Last week, Grade Founder and CEO Matt Bachle joined a diverse cohort of skilled mentors and inspiring mentees for Silverstrand Capital's Biodiversity Accelerator+ 2024 Kick-Off in Singapore. With Alumni that includes Oceanfarmr, EarthAcre and Xylo Systems and supported by VC's including Wedgetail, Superorganism and Carbon Growth Partners, this notable program focuses on fostering innovative solutions to halt nature loss, with a vision of conserving and restoring our planet's ecosystems at scale.
At Grade, mentorship has long been an important mechanism of our commitment to positive impact that often extends far beyond the individual to drive change on a global scale. We have seen first hand how mentorship programs enhance both personal and career development along with organisational culture, indirectly benefitting broader societal and environmental goals at large.
Here are a few of the organisations Grade has proudly supported through our mentor program:
- Ocean Impact Organisation: An initiative focusing on innovative solutions to ocean health challenges.
- Raise Foundation: A non-profit dedicated to empowering young people through mentoring and support.
- Climate Salad: A community supporting climate tech startups and sustainability innovations.
- Carbon 13: An accelerator that supports ventures tackling climate change challenges.
- Boomerang Labs: A startup accelerator that helps innovative ventures grow and succeed.
More than guiding others, mentorship can be a powerful tool that benefits everyone involved. For mentees, it provides essential guidance, support, and insights, making career navigation smoother and more informed. For mentors, it’s a chance to refine leadership skills, experience personal satisfaction, and grow professionally. For organisations, mentoring fosters a culture of growth and enhances employee engagement, often leading to increased organisational success.
Tips for Getting Into Mentoring:
1. Identify Your Strengths: Reflect on your skills and experiences that could benefit others.
2. Find the Right Match: Look for mentees or organisations aligned with your values and interests.
3. Be Open and Approachable: Build trust through clear, honest communication.
4. Commit to Growth: Be willing to learn and adapt as you mentor others.
5. Seek Feedback: Continuously improve by soliciting feedback from your mentees.
