Since day one, Grade has been committed to making good things happen for people and planet.

This is, and will always be, our guiding principle.

We solve problems by creating human-centred digital experiences that enable positive economic, environmental or social change for businesses and people.

Positive Impact.

Since 2012, Grade has been on a mission to build a digital studio that balances business success with real social and environmental impact.

Whilst the business has exponentially grown, Grade remains independent and thus our ethos has remained constant: prioritise partnerships and projects that bring positive change.

As a proudly independent business, Grade is today still owned by founder and sole director Matt Bachle, and the company's official first hire, Dan Pacey (Interaction Design Director).

Remaining independent ensures we are dedicated to the same team and clients that share our values and commitment to doing good, over any larger corporation or investors.

Our recent B Corp certification marks an exciting milestone on our journey to formalise this commitment and hold ourselves accountable to the highest standards of social and environmental impact.

Grade's work spans from client projects to team initiatives, and every part of our operations is guided by our commitment to clear, measurable goals.

We openly share these targets, progress, and learnings, knowing that continuous improvement is central to our mission.

Positive Partnerships

Working to clear, actionable goals we strive to ensure that everything we deliver results in positive, measurable impact.

We prioritise making good things happen with brands and organisations that share our values, allowing us to make a positive impact together, aiming for at least 70% of our revenue to come from purpose-led businesses, not-for-profits, and government organisations.

From our decade long partnership with ACON to our recent award-winning Compass website for Elder Abuse Action Australia to helping BOOM! Power drive the future of sustainable living, we’re as passionate about supporting organisations that strive to do good as we are about creating high quality, user-friendly products.

To certify as a B Corp™, Grade has committed to meeting rigorous standards in five impact areas:

Measured by Experts, Driven by Impact.

We're big believers in both transparency and progress over perfection, sharing not only our goals but scores for each, conducting regular reviews with thinking around how we can do better.

We strongly believe that true partners lead by example, ensuring their actions align with their words. By sharing our goals and progress—validated by credible, independent third-parties —we ensure our actions align with your values.

This commitment to transparency means you can trust us to deliver measurable impact and continuous improvement in everything we do together.

Giving back.

From the very start, our commitment to giving back has been an integral part of Grade’s ethos.

Over the years, we’ve embarked on the rewarding journey of mentorship and conscious investment, contributing time, skills and funds to organisations dedicated to sustainability and social justice, supporting our team through training programmes and aiming to facilitate the involvement of at least 75% of our team in volunteer or pro bono work.

With over 50% of our team engaged in pro bono work plus paid time off for volunteering in community service programs, we’re expanding this commitment further in 2025.

Supporting our Team.

Rooted in our founder’s vision for a balanced and inclusive workplace, Grade is dedicated to fostering a supportive environment where team members can thrive.

We encourage both personal and professional growth, with a focus on diversity, mental health, and social justice causes.

We embrace diversity and support both personal and professional growth, prioritising the well-being of our team, partners, and clients.

With regular check-ins and bi-annual surveys, we know that a well-supported team member also uplifts those around them, for collective good.

Grade are early champions of remote and hybrid working along with flexible hours to support our team’s well-being.

Our charitable donations and team training align with the causes that matter to our team the most, including mental health, social justice, and ethical technology use.
